Bat, Bowl and Run for your LifeLine

Izzie O'Riordan -

We were honoured when ABTA LifeLine was asked by White Hart Associates and MacIntyre Hudson to be the chosen charity for this year's annual charity cricket match.

As the day loomed closer there was lots of back and forth about who was going to take home the title this year, so it was set to be a good match whatever happened!

The sun was shining as we arrived at Old Deer Park in Richmond and we were greeted by a sea of very professional looking gentlemen limbering up in their whites. After some very serious looking team talks they were ready to go.

White Hart Associates were first up to bat and scored 155 runs in the first innings. Having been beaten by White Hart consecutively, MacIntyre Hudson were looking very determined as they padded up for the second innings. And things got very exciting very quickly as some big hitters took to the field.

In the end with two overs to spare MacIntyre Hudson scored an impressive 158 runs, taking home the trophy for the first time!

With spirits high it was time to tuck in to the delicious barbecue and sell some raffle tickets. Up for grabs were theatre tickets, John Lewis vouchers, a bottle of champagne, a cricket book and a box of chocolates. We also had an England cricket bat to auction off signed by Alistair Cook and Graham Swann which was donated by Touchstone Underwriting Limited

A huge thank you to all involved in the day. From players to spectators, thanks to you an incredible £3233 was raised for ABTA LifeLine. Your donations will go towards helping travel industry colleagues in real need.

We would like to thank a few people in particular. Thanks to Chris Photi (White Hart Associates) and Andrew Burnham (MacIntyre Hudson) for inviting us to be this year's chosen charity. Thanks also to Jeff Rush (Rush Insurance) and David Sharp (Advantage Travel Partnership) for donating £1 per run to ABTA LifeLine £313 in total!) And lastly thank you to all of those who donated prizes.
