The Travel Convention: ABTA LifeLine Raises £37,000
During this year's Travel Convention in Palma de Mallorca delegates helped raise an amazing £37,000 for ABTA LifeLine. £12,500 was raised through a charity auction and raffles, with the rest of the money pledged by companies signing up to the £1 per employee appeal. We auctioned off a pair of 1st class tickets to Las Vegas courtesy of British Airways with accommodation donated by Thomas Cook, and a seven night stay in Kenya with safari courtesy of Cosmos. £1 per Employee Appeal
Delegates were encouraged to support the ABTA LifeLine £1 per employee appeal at this year's Travel Convention. Already, 25 Members have joined the appeal. Find out more about the appeal.
ABTA LifeLine Launches Back to Work Initiative
At this year's Travel Convention ABTA LifeLine officially launched the Back to Work Initiative. The Back to Work Initiative is about supporting people who have worked for an ABTA Member and are currently out of work, by giving people them the skills, confidence and work experience to get them back into the travel industry workplace. New Frontiers Direct will offer the skills and confidence whilst Thomas Cook will offer work experience across its broad range of businesses. ABTA Lifeline can also offer assistance for the many of the day-to-day necessary expenses for those re-entering the job market. Further details to follow soon.
Colin Heal donates to ABTA LifeLine
A big thank you to Colin Heal, President of Worldchoice, for donating his £2,500 gift from Worldchoice for being Chairman for 19 years and to mark his new appointment as President of Worldchoice.

The Travel Convention: Our Big Fundraising Event of the Year
Delegates have the opportunity to make a donation to ABTA LifeLine upon registering for the Travel Convention in Palma 03-05 October 2011. ABTA LifeLine will be holding key fundraising events including a fabulous prize draw at the Host Dinner.
