What difference sunshine, an Easter break and the clocks going back makes!  Here at ABTA LifeLine we have a ‘spring’ in our step and are busy planning events, fundraising and promotion – and we would like you to get involved.

Continuing from last year one of our key aims this year is to increase the number of awards we make and do more than ever before to help people in the travel industry community.

But we can't do this on our own. Not everyone who could benefit from ABTA LifeLine knows about it. To help as many people as possible, we need to reach as many people as possible and we need your help to spread the word.

Do take a look at our factsheets in the ‘Need Our Help?’ section on the type of support we provide, and have a look at 'Our Stories' and see how we have made a difference to people in our industry.

We also need to raise the vital funds to continue our important work. If you are looking to hold a fundraising event this year please do think about raising funds for ABTA LifeLine. They say charity begins at home and you will be helping us to help colleagues in the travel industry community who need it most.

News

The Alternative Travel Awards 19 December 2013: An amazing £2000 was raised at the Alternative Travel Awards at Christmas.  A big thank you goes to Nick and Stella Wightman for their continuing support of the charity and to those that donated on the night.

Next Trustee meeting 26 June: The Board of Trustees is meeting on 26 June to consider applications. If you need help or know someone that does, contact lifeline@abtalifeline.org.uk  or simply call 020 3963 0170. All enquiries and applications are held in strict confidence. We really can make a difference.

For example, in February one applicant was awarded £3000, a contribution towards a special powered Dragon wheelchair for her son who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The Travel Brit Awards 6 July: ABTA LifeLine is delighted to be the chosen charity partner at The Travel Brit Awards in July giving the charity an opportunity to not only spread the word about the help it can give travel industry families but also to hold a raffle to raise funds. 

Run for your LifeLine - The London 10k run July 13: We still have a couple of places left for anyone inspired by the London Marathon and wanting to get running, to ‘Run for their LifeLine’ on 13 July in central London. Why not have fun and fundraise at the same time?!

The Travel Convention – Ljubljana 21 September: ABTA LifeLine will be at the Travel Convention raising vital funds for ABTA LifeLine and promoting the good work of the charity.

The ABTA LifeLine dinner – The Royal Air Force Club,  London, 2 October: ABTA LifeLine will be holding its annual dinner on 2 October at The Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, London. This event is about friends and colleagues getting together in support of the charity, having fun and helping to raise funds for the charity.

Last year Tom Solesbury, Olympic rower spoke about his experiences at the London Olympics and the Shadow Cutter entertained guests and gave them a little present to take home.
