With the help of ABTA LifeLine and a women’s refuge, Anita* was able to escape domestic violence with her two young daughters and set up a new home for her and her children.

‘I found myself in a situation I never imagined I’d be in, having to leave my husband and home after being in an abusive relationship – my daughters and I had nowhere to go so ended up in a women’s refuge.’

Leaving your home will always be disruptive and stressful, but thankfully Anita and her daughters were able to move into their own home after spending seven months at the refuge.

‘But we had left everything we owned behind!’

ABTA LifeLine was able to provide Anita with furnishings for her new home including beds, blinds, flooring and white goods.

‘Without LifeLine’s help over the last few months, we would have been living in an empty flat with no idea how we would furnish it.

‘You never know what’s around the corner, and I have learned that if you need help you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for it. It can help you get to the places you need to be without so many bumps in the road.

‘Me and my daughters are now settled in a new, safe area and are looking forward to the future. ABTA LifeLine made this process of moving into a new area so much less stressful – they took a lot of my worries away and helped me move in with a smile and positivity for the future.

‘Thank you all so much, your help will never be forgotten.’
